Emma John

Emma has been in the dental profession for 25 years and worked in a variety of different roles. She became a Practice Manager whilst in the Royal Air Force in 1990. Having moved to Devon in 2001, Emma and has been instrumental in changing a small practice into a thriving multi award-winning flagship for the profession; she was awarded the British Dental Practice Managers’ Practice Manager of the Year Award in 2003 and The Probe Dental Awards’ Practice Manager of the Year Award in 2006.

In 2006 based on her wealth of experience in the industry Emma went on to formulate her own vision of how best to organise a practice team to provide enviable customer service and care of the highest quality and now provides a training consultancy for a variety of dental teams including private, mixed,corporate and cosmetic practices.

Emma's enthusiasm for her profession combined with her skill as a manager has enabled her to provide bespoke training for individual teams with consistently proven results. She has an in depth understanding of the management side of the profession as well as the needs of the teams. The results from her training days speak for themselves with an increase in team confidence, polished systems, and improved communication to patients.

Emma regularly contributes articles to a number of dental magazines, and has lectured and been a speaker throughout the UK, including most recently at the Dentistry Show, and Private Dentistry Live.

Emma also provides consultancy for UMD Professional as a tutor and examiner, and her own practice, Absolute Dental, has full accreditation from the NEBDN as a nurse training centre.

Diane Cox

Emma is joined by Diane Cox who returned to dental nursing in 2004 following a career break during which she excelled in various aspects of customer services. Since returning to dental nursing Diane passed the National Certificate for Dental Nursing with a distinction. She has a passion to mentor other student dental nurses to provide not only first class chairside assistance, but also dental nurses that offer exceptional all round patient care, who become an asset to the business.

Diane has offered in-house training to student dental nurses at Absolute Dental and also to students from the University of Plymouth since 2009 as part of their practical training. Absolute Dental has been accredited by The National Examination Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) as a provider of training for the Diploma in Dental Nursing. Diane is also an examiner for the National Certificate in Dental Nursing exam. She has a real passion for dental nursing and is always keen to improve her knowledge and keep up to date with innovations in dentistry. It is this enthusiasm that Diane uses to motivate and inspire her students. The "Intensive Training" courses provided by Absolute Dental Training is something she thoroughly enjoys, allowing her to give new or returning dental nurses and other non-clinical team members an intense overview of dental nursing, through which they gain vital practical and theoretical knowledge which they are able to put into immediate use within their own workplace.

In addition to her nursing, teaching and examining commitments Diane has written articles providing valuable CPD in many leading industry magazines and websites; as well as being speaker at a number of study groups nationally, BHDT conference and South West Dental Nursing Group.
