absolute dental fund raising
We are proud to have stretched ourselves to raise money for good causes and look forward to further adventures to support deserving charities.
2010
On Sunday June 13th, Rachel & Di took part in this years Cancer Research 'Race for Life' at Cornwall’s Eden Project. They wanted to take part in this event as the charity is close to both their hearts. It was Rachel’s’ first ever Race for Life and Diane’s first at the Eden Project; “I hadn’t realised how hilly the course would be! And if that wasn’t enough of a challenge, the course passed through both the Biomes – the sub-tropical rain forest biome was particularly draining – but wonderful scenery! It’s an amazing event to take part in, so many individuals (all dressed in pink!) all doing something to raise money for such a worthy cause, it gives you a great sense of achievement”. The girls were proud of their 35 minute time around the hilly 5k course, and Rachel will definitely be back “I loved every minute of it!” she said straight afterwards, “The whole team are taking part in The Commando Challenge in October, so this was great training for that”.
2009
On October 25th, Rhod, Emma, Rachel and Di took to the streets of a very sunny Portsmouth to complete the 10 miles of the Great South Run - raising over £1000 for Cancer Research UK with our efforts. We all completed the run within our goal times - Rhod crossing the finish line in 5664th place out of a field of 21,000 with a time of 1 hour and 34 mins. The girls crossed the line together with a time of 2 hours and 10 mins. We were all inspired along the way by the crowds lining the streets, but also by the other remarkable runners, some in fancy dress, some pulling Land Rovers and some just with their own thoughts - all running for their own special reasons. We're proud of our achievement & would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and spurred us on.
2008
Absolute is hugely proud of Emma,Denise, Fliss and Diane who completed the grueling 2008 Playtex Moon Walk - uniting against breast cancer. Walking 26.4 miles overnight through London is not for the fainthearted but the Absolute team (and thousands of others) made the effort and in doing so we raised in excess of a thousand pounds.
Well done to the absolute boys, Rhod and Steve, who on Sunday 15th March 2008 ran 6 miles for Sports Relief. Not only a worthy and charitable effort but even more amazing having been run the morning after Rhodri had celebrated the Wales victory in the Six Nations Cup that he saw in Cardiff the day before!
2006
June 2006 Race for Life - Denise and Emma took to the streets of Plymouth along with 5000 women and raised a staggering £700 for Cancer Research UK. The dynamic duo ran the 5km run in around 35 minutes and still managed to be able to walk to the nearest pub when all the excitement had finished!
2003
2003
This was our first year to do some fundraising for Dent Aid, a charity which provides emergency dental treatment in areas of extreme poverty. It was a great success and we enjoyed it so much that we have since parachute jumped, abseiled and swum 6,000 metres in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign.
