absolute dental hygienists

We are lucky to have two hygienists, providing the practice with four whole days of hygiene care. Good oral hygiene is of paramount importance and at the forefront of preventive dentistry. Every patient presents a different set of oral problems and our hygienists are trained and experienced in preparing an oral hygiene programme tailored to suit their individual needs.

Young children are encouraged to adopt a regular, robust oral hygiene routine and to think about the importance of nutrition - but our hygienists make it a fun thing to do. The earlier we can encourage the right habits, the less dental work the dentist will have to perform.

Rachael Mounce GDC 174138

Rachael came to dentistry because of a desire to make people feel better, and she has a very caring nature; but as a child she initially wanted to be a vet! After leaving school Rachael took some advice from her dad and decided to go into dentistry - as a trainee dental nurse. In 2003 she qualified as a dental nurse and worked for 3 years at a practice in Torquay; by this time Rachael was certain that dentistry was the perfect career for her and wanted to further her learning in the profession; a call to Bristol Dental Hospital found that the closing date for the 1st Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist course was in 2 weeks, Rachael's application was successful and she qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist in 2009. Patients seeing Rachael will be guaranteed a broad, happy smile, and a caring, compassionate nature. The preventative treatments offered by a Therapist are vital because prevention is always better than cure! A little bit of care and attention everyday can prevent problems in the future, Rachael feels a solid dental regime can prevent a multitude of dental problems. Rachael may have only been with Absolute for a short time, but she has slotted in well and feels like she has been here for many years. Rachael is always happy to lend a hand with many other aspects of the practice, and we're already very appreciative of the skills she brings to the team.
